Evening, Akaroa
From the old French wharf
with its orange-roofed shelter
you look across the harbour,
ready for the journey home.
We come back every now and then
to observe things from the past.
The water holds the evening light.
Memories ripple the water.
One day, you say, we'll borrow a boat
and row beyond the beacon.
