Away
The night road, rain wet,
slick and black as ink.
The slither of wheels
planing on water.
The song, loud, solemn:
'I should live in salt'
The curve of the corner,
the plane of a thigh.
The lights ticking past,
counting backwards.
The welcome:
Cold and black as ink.
