Glass House

Now the need to talk is high on the agenda,
for 25 years we've dodged the issues,
the reasons for our love making
and our non love making for the longest time.

And though I'm drawn irrevocably to the flame
you stumble and stutter and withdraw
as if closing your self to what's happening.
You go on with your busy life as if not

affected by my desire to fulfill our destiny.
Then the clock at midnight stops
me in its tracks as if to bring me up short
before I deliver my last vociferous confession.
