Sadness (A Summary)
Some things are over
when they have barely begun.
The seeds you cannot plant
weigh heavily in your pockets,
draw endless tears from your eyes.
For this, there is no consolation.
Bio
David Adès is an Australian poet currently living in Pittsburgh. He has been a member of Friendly Street Poets since 1979. His collection Mapping the World was commended for the Anne Elder Award 2008. His poems have appeared widely in Australian and American journals and literary magazines. Poems have recently been anthologised in Australian Love Poems 2013, The Stars Like Sand - Australian Speculative Poetry, Voices Israel Anthology 2014, Australian Poetry Members Anthology 2013 and Australian Poetry Members Anthology 2014. In 2014 David won the inaugural University of Canberra Vice-Chancellor's International Poetry Prize and was shortlisted for the Newcastle Poetry Prize. A chapbook, Only the Questions Are Eternal, was published in 2015 by Garron Publishing.
