Scattered

They poke their heads through
Some have fallen off the page
The echo of words we think we have left behind
Swept under the rug
They fight to be heard
Stray threads
The long queue finally pierces
Slanting light that dissolves without touching the ground
The kind of silence to which the beautiful responds
Swirling among particles
The smell of burnt paper
