"Only in the Darkness Can You See the Stars"
Martin Luther King Jr.

In
the
rainstorm
my eye lids
fall to catch the drips
of what I fear I would show,
salt tears, and when winds whip I might still recall the leaves
that spread to wrap a brightly colored blanket around the best of nature's honest gifts.
The autumn sun sears brightest when my heart needs it most
and as the dark arrives I may
retreat and watch for
new-lit stars
to bring
me
rest
