Nancy Scott
On the Night Train from Zurich to Rome

At
night
I pulled
up the shade
not expecting the
moonlight to shimmer the Jungfrau.
The Maiden forever cloaked in snow, stoic, serene.

Men brave her heights to savor heaven. Safe in this train
I contemplate how it would feel
to soar beyond this
rough terrain
let go
this
realm.
