Where the past lives

(triolet)

In a field is the house where we last stood,
the window a single swivelling eye;
your face grows in mine like grain in wood.
In a field is the house where we last stood,
the gate closed as tight as a book;
the half-open door a welcoming lie.
In a field is the house where we last stood,
the window a single swivelling eye.
