A Memory

for Mantri Raghu

When my eyes tired in search
of bread and spilled in the
furrows and dragged along
by the iron talons of the rich
ploughs in the grabbed land
of my brothers, and honour
jabbed by the ravens over the
cast(e) garbage heaped on the
head of Bapatla, you were
a meaning without words
my mother's presence in
this primitive wilderness.
