Heirloom

I was given nothing of you
in the wake of it all.
Realizing only recently
I own simply photos,
fragmented memories,
things my fingers
can't hold.

Would it make a difference?
To trace the lines
of your wallet,
the smooth edges
of your cufflinks.

Or would your imprint
on these temporary things
merely serve to amplify
the silence.
