Bio
Anton Floyd was born in Egypt lives and teaches in rural West Cork. Prize winning poet whose poems are widely published in Ireland and elsewhere. His debut collection 'Falling into Place', was published by Revival Press (2018) A new collection 'Depositions' is forthcoming from Revival Press in 2020.

The Fish Market
The mackerel steal the show.
On the fishmonger's stall
daylight glints on fish skins.
Each enameled scale is a gem
silvered and etched in sea-colours
the greens, the blue-black ripples.
Torpedo bodies, schooled in rip currents,
now sulk blind in serried waves;
each cruel line of the jaw stiffening.
Each fin - a finely edged switchblade –
hints at the menace of deadly gangs.
They crowd a churned bed of ice
on a white slab, a cold marmoreal sea.
This calls for some Byzantine recipe...
