Clocking

the sharp hiss of weeds dying
squeezing
out the poison
with gloved hand

the sky's ashen grief
matches the melancholy
of the air in here

and
and so on till one set of circumstances
replaces another
much the same as any other

I wait
for the ticking to stop
tightly wound
going on far too long
