Distant Memory

I am dying.

Like Summer at the hands of
Autumn

My wrinkles are really
fissures
on a skin fast tracked to shed

I consider fighting and resistance
but my energy is spineless
and my instincts know better

So I surrender, like a white flag
and trust this deconstruction
is the one I have contemplated
suicide for
The one who journeys alongside me
like a distant memory.
