Going Downstairs

I have decided to die on a Monday
when it rains heavily
dancing on smoked tarmac

I will shake my bones loose
of their moorings    jangle
them against skin and the chair
where I sit knowing that this
is the place heart and mind
finally slide through darkness
as a child careens down
a banister to the newel post
and your final handshake
