This Long Walk: Syria

We only know this road
by the sole of our feet
moccasins have lost their heels
depriving us of privilege
to satiate gaited comfort
but we walk
numb in the heat
heedless of the callouses
we neither know pain
nor feel aches
all we know
as the end comes
a plethora of emotions
rides with our dreams
in this long walk.
