Kevin Casey
You Could Almost Imagine
Looking up the shoulder of this tree-bare hill
to the house on its rounded brow —
broad wedge of roof, weathered shakes,
hemmed by rose hips bobbing
and the grass that catches at the wind —
you could almost imagine
the sudden expanse of a hidden sea
opening behind, reaching out to race the sky
to some horizon still unseen.
