Lonnard Dean Watkins
Caffeine Inspiration
sitting in a cafe
trying to write a poem -
gaining inspiration from caffeine.
over the rim of her cup
a young lady with a ladder in her stocking
is trying not to look at me,
and I try not to look at her,
it is uncertain who tried not to look first.
our eyes meet briefly,
she smiles.
I return to my coffee
with its caffeine inspiration,
nothing comes of it today.
Bio
Lonnard Dean Watkins lives in Wellington, New Zealand where he works as an IT consultant.
Lonnard has had poetry and haiku published in a number of journals including Heron's Nest and Acorn Haiku Journal.
He is also an artist and has combined both art and poetry in a series of zen paintings and haiga.
