Mark Arvid White lives and works in Alaska, and has been writing poetry for a number of years, much of his focus during the 1990s being in the area of haiku and other Japanese forms, but he has done extensive work in longer poetry as well. His publication credits include such works as Modern Haiku, Frogpond, Candelabrum, Arnazella, Japanophile, Webster Review, Tucumcari Literary Review, and many others in the U.S. and abroad. He has received best of issue awards, appeared in numerous anthologies including A Haiku Moment, and has won various contest awards. He is the founder of the Shin Tao Haiku Retreat, a gathering place for poets online in the virtual community of Second Life.
